The School of Continuing Education at MacEwan University offers Nursing Professional Development courses that provide students the opportunity to stay up-to-date on current technology, practice and theory to renew or advance their clinical practice knowledge. These courses provide students with flexibility to enrol anywhere, anytime and complete on their own time within four months. Whether you are looking to change your career focus, specialize, update your skills or meet a requirement for licensure, completing a course or courses with the Health Professional Development Program will provide you with a certificate demonstrating your mastery of the content. These courses are created by practitioners to meet the knowledge and skill requirements in the clinical practice environment.
Program Eligibility
These courses are suitable for Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Paramedics and other regulated healthcare providers.

Duration and Delivery
Self-study and facilitated online courses range in duration and students have 4 months to complete the course starting on the day they enrol. They are completed online through MacEwan's learning management system, mêskanâs. Please check individual course listings for specific information. Each course is 15 hours.

Fees
- There is no application fee for this program.
- Self-study courses start at $298.
- Payment is required at the time of enrolment. If payment is not received within one hour, the system will automatically remove the enrolment.
- Course and/or material fees or special fees are listed with individual courses. Course prices include all materials and manuals.
Getting Started
All self-study courses are online and are to be completed within 4 months at the student's own pace. Please check the individual course listing for detailed information.
Completion Requirements
Courses must be completed individually and in compliance with the standards outlined in MacEwan's academic integrity policy. You are required to pass an evaluation, as outlined in the course materials, to earn a Professional Development course certificate. A grade of "Successfully Completed" is assigned upon passing the final evaluation. A grade of "Not Completed" is assigned to students who do not meet the requirements within the allotted time for non-credit courses. The pass mark for most courses is 80%.
