Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to the theory and practice of nursing leadership and management. Students will apply theories and principles to case studies that explore individual leadership practices, leading interprofessional teams and leading within the broader, complex health care system. The organizational context and the influence of leaders on the workplace, patient outcomes and employee engagement will be explored. Students will also assess their leadership skills and examine health care trends and issues impacting the development of future nurse leaders.
