Course Description

Difficult conversations can occur in a wide range of situations, from delivering bad news to evaluating peers and colleagues to sharing opposing views. The content may be controversial, contentious, or sensitive and it can invoke strong or complex emotions and views that can be challenging to anticipate and manage. This interactive course will equip you with the tools to navigate difficult conversations more efficiently and effectively. Students will gain confidence by learning how to choose the right environment, knowing when to listen and when to speak, and how to get a point across in a respectful but concrete manner. Communication skills and a positive mindset will be developed as students work with each other to provide feedback and develop sample responses and solutions. With knowledge and practice, difficult conversations can become less intimidating.
